Rio Negro introduced a circular model at Federal Integration Week

Within the framework of the Federal Integration Week (SIF), which brings together more than 450 young people from all over the country, the delegation from Río Negro shared the "Birra y Trucha" project, which proposes to "add value" to the organic waste generated by the production of craft beer, to strengthen the development of regional economies in Río Negro and thus favour a circular economy.

During the presentation, the delegation explained how, from the reuse of barley and hops bagasse, fish and sheep feed with high fibre and protein content can be produced, favouring fish farming, livestock farming, and horticulture through the production of compost and fertilisers.

The Federal Integration Week is the closing event of the 2023 edition of the Federal Training Programme "Management for Development", designed by the Federal Investment Council (CFI) and coordinated, in Río Negro, by the State Secretariat of Planning.

"For the second consecutive year, the province is supporting this federal program designed by the IFC, which focuses on integration, job creation, and the development of the circular economy. The emphasis is on productive development and the environmental challenge to contribute to the mitigation of the effects of climate change," said the Secretary of Planning Coordination, Natalia Pretz.

"For eight months, the Secretariat has been supporting the 23 young people who are now representing us at the federal meeting. We are very proud that, of the three projects submitted, one was selected for this instance," she said, adding that the other two dealt with issues related to the professionalisation of the state and education for employment.

In this sense, Pretz highlighted the predisposition of authorities and agents of all provincial state bodies who provided empirical and theoretical information so that young people could develop their projects throughout the year.
"The provincial integration conferences in Bariloche and the Alto Valle were fundamental for the development of the projects given that, from the exchange panels, the representatives of institutional bodies showed the commitment of the management to young people, production, management, and innovation," she concluded.
