Río Negro introduced the Green Hydrogen Strategic Plan to German authorities and businessmen of the energy sector

Daniel Sanguinetti, Secretary of State for Planning, and Gonzalo Medina Cabrera director of the Rio Negro Invierte Agency, introduced yesterday the Provincial Strategic Plan for Green Hydrogen in Buenos Aires. During a bilateral meeting between Germany and Argentina, which was attended by Mercedes Marcó del Pont, Secretary of Strategic Affairs, Peter Tschentscher, head of the Government of the State of Hamburg, and German businessmen from the hydrogen energy sector.

Rio Negro attended the meeting together with Tierra del Fuego, with the aim of promoting the National Hydrogen Strategy 2030 and the Argentine export potential in order to meet the growing European demand.

"It is an event of worldwide importance, in which national and international referents of the sector could know the potential of Argentina as a world leader in H2V supply; they had access to the strategic plan of the province, also to the details of the innovative provincial legislation and the development of the national law, in which the Governor Arabela Carreras is working together with national organisms", explained Sanguinetti.

The government officials also highlighted the environmental characteristics of the region for H2V scale production, making reference to the technological development and the knowledge center of the province; factors that position Río Negro as an important actor in the process of energy transition at world level.

Some of the issues addressed during the event organized by the National Secretariat of Strategic Affairs were energy security, the role of Argentina as a reliable partner, the investment potential in fields related to the energy transition, H2 generation, and infrastructure and export mechanisms.

"Argentina has the commitment and decision to get involved in the different sectors of the hydrogen value chain with natural resources but also with our knowledge, technological competences and productive capacities", explained Mercedes Marcó del Pont, Secretary of Strategic Affairs.

The German delegation presented "Hamburg Green Hydrogen Hub", an emblematic project of the country's energy transition and distribution policy, one of the first projects in the world focused on decarbonizing its port economy.

The meeting was also attended by the German Ambassador to Argentina, Ulrich Sante, the Ambassador of Argentina to the Federal Republic of Germany, Fernando Brun, the Secretary of Hydrocarbons of Tierra del Fuego, Alejandro Aguirre, the coordinator of the Interministerial Roundtable H2, Fernando Brun, the coordinator of the Argentina Productive Plan 2030, Daniel Schteingart, and the general manager of Y-TEC, Santiago Sacerdote.
