World leaders interested in Green Hydrogen

World leaders and referents of the sector will attend the Green Hydrogen 2022 Global Assembly and Exhibition to be held this week in Barcelona, where Governor Arabela Carreras will present the Provincial Strategic Plan on Clean Energy.

One of the main speakers will be Andrew Forrest, president of Fortescue Future Industries. He is the founder and president of the business group that chose to invest in Rio Negro to produce Green Hydrogen. He was a member of the Australian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy and co-chairs the Great Business Leaders Forum, one of the most important platforms for dialogue between Chinese and Australian businessmen, as well as being an advisor to the Global Citizenship Commission.

Lei Zhang, CEO of Envision Group, the world's leading renewable and digital energy company, with particular growth in the wind sector, will also attend.

Dominic Eagleton from the NGO Global Witness, who belongs to the fossil gas team, will also be present at the event. He is recognized as a leader in his work on extractive industry revenue transparency in Europe. His central task is to hold companies and governments accountable for their impact on the environment.

Malcolm Turnbull, the well known chairman of the Green Hydrogen Organization (GH2), will also attend. He was Australia's Minister for the Environment and former Australian Prime Minister (2015-2018), during which he proposed lowering electricity prices and legislating in favor of reducing the emission of polluting gases.

The Deputy Prime Minister of Spain, Teresa Ribera, will also be part of the Assembly. She belongs to the senior corps of State civil administrators and is one of the main promoters of decarbonization.

Río Negro will have an active participation at the meeting that accelerates the global energy reconversion. Governor Carreras will participate in this Assembly as a speaker on Tuesday 18, presenting the scope of the provincial project which, in addition to energy development and transformation, aims at generating genuine jobs in the short term for the people of Río Negro.

Simultaneously, the Governor will hold meetings with the National Minister of Productive Development, Matías Kulfas, and with Andrew Forrest, as well as attend bilateral meetings with officials from different governments around the world to make progress on the subject.

Latin American leaders will also be present

The main speakers from Latin America will be María Paz de la Cruz, CEO of H2 Chile. She is an industrial civil engineer from the Universidad de Concepción and has a master's degree in Carbon Management from the University of Edinburgh. She was director for Latin America of the International REC Standard Foundation, where she promoted the consumption of renewable electricity in the region by means of the use of renewable energy certificates.

Diego Mesa Puyo, Colombian Minister of Mines and Energy, will also participate as a speaker. He studied Economics at Concordia University in Canada; he holds a Master's degree in Economics from McGill University in Canada and has held the CFA Designation from the CFA Institute in the USA since 2012. Between 2018 and 2020 he was Vice Minister of Energy of Colombia and was in the presidency of the board of directors of the National Hydrocarbons Agency.

Israel Hurtado, the president of H2 Mexico, is another of the main references that will be present at the Assembly. He is a lawyer with a master's degree in Private International Law from the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León. He is the founder and president of the Mexican Hydrogen Association.

Santiago Lorenzo, Head of ECLAC's Climate Change Economics Unit, will also be present. He has a degree in Economics from the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, a master's degree in Environmental Assessment from the London School of Economics and Political Science and a PhD in Environmental Sciences from the Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona.

Giovani Machado, director of Energy Economics and Environment at Empresa de Pesquisa Energética (EPE), will also attend. He is an economist, with a Master's and PhD in Energy Planning. He has worked for several institutions in the energy area.

Felix Sosa, president of the National Electricity Administration (ANDE) in Paraguay, will participate from Paraguay. He is an Electrical Engineer, graduated from the Federal University of Ceará - Brazil. He also holds a Master's Degree in Business Administration from Universidad Católica Nuestra Señora de la Asunción; a Master's Degree in Business Administration in the Electricity Sector from Fundação Getulio Vargas - Brazil and is a Specialist in Didactics and Research.
