First institutional meeting between the Specialized Expo Bariloche 2027 and the BIE, in Dubai
Daniel Sanguinetti, Secretary of State for Planning of Río Negro, and Lucas Gioja, member of the Argentine Chancellery, held a meeting on Tuesday 22 with Dimitri Kerkentzes, General Secretary and head of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) in Dubai. The aim of the meeting is to promote the Specialized Expo Bariloche 2027. Bariloche is a candidate because of a coordinated work between the National Government, the Province and the city´s government.

The meeting took place within the context of the Universal Expo 2020 and was appropriate to analyze the schedule of activities for the next months, where the formal presentation of Bariloche's proposal to host the Expo 2027 will take place.
It is worth mentioning that the competition process will include four cities in the world: Minnesota, Malaga, Belgrade and Phuket.
"It was a very positive meeting; we addressed all the issues we had on the agenda and we were able to discuss certain key issues such as the presentation of the dossier, the visit of the delegation in charge of the audit and the work schedule of the application," said Sanguinetti at the end of the meeting.
Bariloche is already going through the project review phase of the application process, during which each proposed city will present a dossier detailing its submission.
Subsequently, the BIE will organize research missions and evaluate the feasibility and viability of each candidate project. In this way, the BIE Member States in General Meeting will choose the host country for the Specialized Expo 2027/28, according to the principle of one country, one vote.
Sanguinetti also mentioned that a promotional action for the Specialized Expo Bariloche 2027 took place on Wednesday 23 in Dubai, where Argentina proposed the Andean city as the venue for the event.
Luis Vaisberg, Minister of Economy of the Province, and Gonzalo Medina Cabrera, Executive Manager of the Investment promotion Agency “Río Negro Invierte” attended the meeting.
